Sponsor: One Hour a Week Makes a BIG Difference

Earlier this year, the TELUS Vancouver Community Board awarded a grant of $10,000 to Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver for its Teen Mentoring Program for immigrant/newcomer youth. The funds are being used to establish friendships between recently immigrated elementary students and high school students who have had the same experience. The Teen Mentors will act as role models for the children, providing guidance and support as they deal with the cultural challenges of being new to Canada.

"We are excited to support the Lower Mainland's diverse population," says Big Brothers Executive Director Valerie Lambert. "Growing up in a new place can be intimidating. Having a positive role model around who has experienced similar challenges helps to ease the process."

There are many ways to support Big Brothers. From volunteering to event participation to donating used clothing, each option is equally rewarding and beneficial to our programs.
