The New Title Sponsor for the Big Brothers Golf Classic: B2Gold
As the Title Sponsor of the golf tournament for 17 years, Canaccord Financial has helped Big Brothers raise over 1 million dollars to support mentoring programs for kids. This year, Big Brothers is recognizing Canaccord Financial with the official Legacy Sponsor title. And to pass the torch, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver is pleased to welcome B2Gold as the new Title Sponsor for the 2011 B2Gold Big Brothers Golf Classic. Involved in the Whistler tournament since 1997, B2Gold enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to attach their name to the tournament this year.
“We support Big Brothers because it is a worthy cause, run by an excellent organization. We feel it is very important that young people have the support and guidance of a mentor during the critical years of their development,” says Clive Johnson, President, CEO and Director of B2Gold.
Over the years, B2Gold has contributed over $180,000 to Big Brothers programs through the golf tournament.
“I have long admired the work done by the Big Brothers organization and the well-run tournament. We also wanted to honor the tremendous effort put in by Canaccord Financial as the Title Sponsor for so many years past. As the new Title Sponsor this year, we hope that we can live up to the high standards they have established,” says Johnson.
In the 30 years he has been involved in the gold mining industry, Johnson has worked with many young people. As a mentor to them both professionally and personally, he understands the value of mentoring and finds supporting Big Brothers to be a very fulfilling role.
