This January is Mentoring Month, celebrated in the United States, and President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters in a BIG way.

Studies directed and compiled by Harvard School of Public Health's Center for Health Communication, MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and Big Brothers Big Sisters demonstrate that mentoring is a proven public health intervention for preventing adolescent drug abuse and youth violence, and helping young people achieve their full potential.
Agencies like Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver provide volunteers with fun and flexible opportunities to make a difference in a childs life. From volunteering for an hour a week to participating in the Bowl for Big Brothers Classic, theres a way for everyone to get involved and support mentoring in their community.
