Canadian Western Bank Takes “Greater Interest” in Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver and Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland were pleased to receive a donation of $24,606 from the seven lower mainland Canadian Western Bank (CWB) branches through The Greater Interest GIC® campaign. Since partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations across Canada in 2008, CWB has donated over $845,000 to help facilitate meaningful mentorship opportunities for Canada’s youth.

"We’re thrilled to continue supporting our partners at Big Brothers Big Sisters through The Greater Interest GIC® campaign,” says Angela Saveraux, CWB's Community Investment Manager. “What started as a unique way of giving back to local Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations has grown into an integrated partnership; in fact, many of our employees commit their time year-round as volunteer mentors.”

Based on every dollar invested in The Greater Interest GIC® between September 1, 2011 and October 31, 2011, CWB made a corporate donation of 1/8% to the local organization in the community where the deposits were raised.

“Each dollar donated means we are one step closer to helping over 1,000 at-risk children in 2012 alone,” explains Valerie Lambert, Executive Director at Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver. “With corporate support, we have the ability to reach out to potential volunteers and further develop our programs to meet changing community needs.”
