SILENT AUCTION PREVIEW

DOM PERIGNON ANDY WARHOL 2001 - LIMITED EDITION

At first intensely floral with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet, in time, the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical in the glass. Ripe apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge. The wine’s volume makes it approachable today but those wanting more complexity will cellar it for a few years with an anticipated maturity in 2012-2032. Wine Advocate: 96 points. Courtesy of Marquis Wine Cellars. Value: $215

LIVE AUCTION PREVIEW

Limited Production Double Magnum 2008 Merlot Burrowing Owl Estate Winery.
Hailing from BC’s famous Burrowing Owl, this wine has a dark plum core with a vibrant ruby red rim. A full and round palette greets you with silky tannins and an elegant finish. Beautiful acidity carries the wine thru the palette, also adding to its ageability. The red berry fruit in addition to some hints of tobacco and dark chocolate balance the French, Hungarian and Russian oak characters from its cellaring. With just 24 of this bottle size produced, it is a very drinkable wine indeed. Courtesy of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. Value: $550

1982 Chateau Pichon Comtesse de lalande
One of the monumental wines of the last century is the 1982 Pichon Lalande. Since bottling, it has flirted with perfection, and was a sprinter out of the gate, which gave rise to questions about how quickly it would begin its decline. However, at age 27, it retains all its glossy, rich, flamboyant cassis fruit, berry jam-like notes, and plenty of earthy, foresty flavors. This is a full-bodied, extravagantly rich Pichon Lalande seemingly devoid of acidity and tannin, but the wine is incredibly well-balanced and pure. Courtesy of Colin Atkinson. Value: $750
